H.W. PICKUP | GRADE 7

REDUCING OUR FOOTPRINT

Our project goals and ideas came about from our Science 7 study of ‘Interactions and Ecosystems’, specifically the positive and negative impact humans have on ecosystems. After learning about our individual Ecological Footprint, the grade 7s began brainstorming ways to reduce our collective Ecological Footprint. We walked around our school, made observations and noticed that there were amazing things happening. We also noted a few small changes that could decrease our Ecological Footprint as a school, such as encouraging positive habits in students. Our grade 7s became agents of change! They learned they could affect change by working with school groups (Husky News), supporting the amazing things already happening in our school and implementing small changes such as the use of biodegradable cutlery at lunch time.

Thank you to all who made this opportunity possible!
