Help us raise money for the new Nocturnal Wing of the EVZ bat habitat! During this wildly whimsical fundraiser, we’re raising money for our battys! Show your love for our batty-fabulous winged friends by donating $25 to the Battys for Baddies Campaign.
The Nocturnal Wing first opened in 2009, and has housed a myriad of nocturnal species over the years, including kinkajous; armadillos; sloths; a prehensile-tailed porcupine; and of course, our Jamaican fruit bats.
In February 2025, our two-toed sloths, BB Cop and Luna, moved next door into a newly constructed habitat designed specifically for them, before being joined by our senior prehensile-tailed porcupine, Cactus.
The upcoming Nocturnal Wing upgrades will enhance both life for our animals, as well as the guest experience, including:
‣ New rubberized walls to support climbing and exploration for the bats
‣ New glass viewing windows
‣ Red/brown lighting to make it easier for guests to observe the bats
‣ Updated immersive wall wraps
‣ New educational signage highlighting bat biology, conservation, and ecological importance
Upgrades to the space will create a more enriching environment for our bats, supporting them as they age, while also helping visitors better understand and appreciate these often misunderstood animals.
For your donation, you’ll receive a fun, bat-themed, downloadable thank-you card. You can even choose to opt in for a charitable tax receipt. Please note: All campaign donations are non-refundable. VZDS will not entertain any refund requests.
