Zoominescence is the Festival of Light at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Featuring an outstanding collection of light and art installations, the Zoo transforms into a magical winter wonderland hosted by the Edmonton Valley Zoo and the Valley Zoo Development Society. Each December, the festival runs on the weekends and 2 full weeks leading up to and after Christmas for everyone to enjoy!
Every year the Valley Zoo Development society hosts a Call to Artist Competition. This competition reachs out to Edmonton creators giving them a chance to share their vision with the local community by having there design featured during Zoominescence. This years theme is Northern Animal Conservation.

WHO WE ARE
THE VALLEY ZOO DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY.
The Valley Zoo Development Society (VZDS) is a registered charity and not-for-profit with a mission to raise funds and promote awareness to ensure the continued development of the Edmonton Valley Zoo. This is achieved through various events, education and conservation programs.
THE EDMONTON VALLEY ZOO.
Since opening its gates in 1959 as a 5-acre petting Zoo, the Edmonton Valley Zoo has held a special place in the hearts of Edmontonians.
Edmonton Valley Zoo has an average of 400,000 visitors a year with almost 8,000 being annual members. The Edmonton Valley Zoo cares for 299 animals and is active in 4 Species survival programs. We also welcome an annual average of 980 schools and 214,000 drop in participants .
We have ambitious plans to show how a small zoo can make a massive difference by focusing on stewardship, conservation, and education by creating a vibrant new zoo that will allow people to connect with animals in a way that inspires them to preserve our natural world

COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience this magical event. These tickets are intended to be shared with other non-profit organizations, as well as with schools or groups that may need financial assistance.Â
- The following packages are available for sponsorship in multiples of 50 at the Children’s Ticket cost of $9.95 instead of $17.50.*
- 50 tickets for $497.50 ($875 value)
- 100 tickets for $995 ($1,750 value)
